Master Bedroom

Our bedroom is in the southwest corner of the house: not really the ideal place, but an acceptable compromise. Many people prefer an east facing bedroom so they get the best morning light, but we're not really morning people and on Jun 21st its light out at 4:30 AM.  Our next choice would have been the quiet, dark northwest corner, but that would have put it over the ADU bedroom, and we feared noise conflicts, even though we put a lot of sound insulation in the floor.

The high windows on the west allow some light to come in, but not too much summer sun.  They also give light and privacy.  The south facing windows (not shown) are larger than we would have liked for privacy, but we wanted solar gain also.
