Garden Rooms

serenity garden

We build a serenity garden (above) in the quietest part of our lot, which also functions as the view from the ADU kitchen and bedroom.  We used some basalt rock that was already in that corner and a lot of rubble concrete we got free from people trying to get rid of it.  We purchased the lighter colored rocks.

Composting not only reduces your garbage a lot, but it creates new soil to amend you garden every year, saving money on both ends. The small shed holds leaves or other brown matter we add to our kitchen scraps to make the right compost mix.  We got these bins ("Urban Compost tumblers, UCT7") on the internet from the manufacturer in Portland, OR.

The concrete monolith in the top picture was a piece we just couldn't find a place to put, so as a joke we stood it on end.  Then we liked it that way, so there it still is.  The slate walkway stones are visible in both pictures.
